Today we’re going to get a little gyaan about Android, how it all started and how it has fared till now in the market. All the BSNL tab were running on Android OS.

Android Inc. was founded by Andy Rubin (now pioneer head of Android development in Google) and his colleagues in Palo Alto, California, in October 2003. They wanted to develop “…smarter mobile devices that are more aware of its owner’s location and preferences”. It was later acquired by Google on 17 August 2005, while hiring Andy and his other two friends to take the vision ahead. Android OS is now running on camera also. Tablet pc complete History

Tablet computing is older than you think. In 1968. Yes. 1968. Many of us weren’t even born at that time. It all started with Alan Kay, a computer science researcher at Xerox Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC). It was the first device to have wireless internet connectivity, something that we all take for granted today.

It had a 9-inch B/W LCD screen, built-in physical keyboard, an included stylus, ability to play songs and videos and weighed under 9lbs. (4 kg). All this was projected for a cost of mere US$500 in 1972.

The sad thing was, the product remained a concept and was never shipped. You can have a view of the tablet here:

An Introduction to BSNL Tablets

BSNL tablet

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) on collaboration with Noida-based company Pantel Technologies, has launched three tablets which  includes one 7-inch screen tablet with resistive screen and it runs on Android 2.3 operating system, while the second comes with 7-inch screen and the third tablet comes with an 8-inch screen, both of which are capacitive but with a higher price.

These tablets are designed keeping in mind the students need, the tablet come with a promotional offer of 3 month free data download. BSNL is also giving 2G SIM along with all the tablets.

BSNL Penta Tablet

Developed by the Noida based company – Pantel technologies. The tablet will be sold at data plans from BSNL at reduced cost. The cost of these tablet will be Rs 3250, Rs 10,999 and Rs 13,500. (more…)
